Villa Badoer at Fratta Polesine
Villa Badoer at Fratta Polesine was designed in 1554 for the nobleman Francesco Badoer, as the pivot of his vast agricultural estate. It’s not a popular destination because of its location, quite far from the other famous villas designed by Palladio, but it is absolutely worth a visit and it could be conveniently included in a tour of some lesser known villas. The central residential part rises on a high basement and is flanked by two columnated curved porticos which hide the agricultural annexes. The overall effect is impressive and therefore it inspired many constructions over the centuries.
